PROCESS
AND PROCEDURE OF ADMINISTERING THE ONDO STATE HAULAGE FEE LAW.
The
process and procedure for the administration of Single Haulage Fee in Ondo
State is being guided by the provision of relevant Laws i.e The Ondo State
Single Hualage Fee Law, 2020 and Federation of Nigeria Law, schedule to taxes
and levies approved for collection; CAP T2 of 2004, (amended act part (IV)
section 2 (b) order 2015).
The
Laws empower the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Cooperative Services as the
sole agency of Government, to operate the activity in the State. Haulage fee is
expected to be charged on all articulated/mechanically propelled van, conveying
goods in and out of the State.

STAGE 1.
The
Officer or Agent of the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Cooperative Services
is expected to issue a document known as “Demand Notice” notifying any person,
manufacturer, warehouse operator, distributor, hauler e. t. c who convey goods
in and out of the State of the expected payment. The document will specify
among other information, which will include the name and business address of
hauler, amount, vehicle number, date issued.
STAGE 2.
If the
hauler or payer is willing to make the payment, a document known as “Payment
Advice” will be issued to guide during the payment in accordance with the
applicable rates and category of fees will be issued to the hauler as
appropriate. The document, which could be tendered in any bank of the payer’s
choice is designed to ease the payment. The payment advice contains government
Agency Code 022200100100 and Revenue Code 12020449. This payment advices serves
as the government account details for payment in commercial banks, hence, the
hauler need no account number for payment.
STAGE 3.
The
haulers will take the evidence of payment/teller obtained at the Commercial
Bank to any ODIRS tax Station https://www.odirs.ng/tax_offices.php
across the 18 Local Government Areas in the State, for issuance of Government
e- receipt. Upon presentation of the bank teller of payment or any evidence of
payment, the receipt will be issued immediately. Please note that there is no
other procedure required to convert the evidence of payment to Government
e-receipt. The process is simple, applicant is just to take the evidence of
payment to any ODIRS tax station for the issuance of Government e-receipt.
STAGE 4.
The Haulage
Fee law of the State made a provision for constitution of Task-Force, to
enforce the defaulters for the payment. All payment on haulage fee is mandated
by Law to be paid into the State treasury. See the
