An Onitsha-based choir group, the Singspiration Chorale, has won the fourth edition of the Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival, held on Sunday, at the Ecumenical Worship Center, Sagamu in Ogun State.

The Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival is the brainchild of former governor of Ogun state and senator representing Ogun East in the national assembly, Senator Gbenga Daniel.

The program had nine choir groups, who competed keenly in multiple rounds to secure the number one spot.

For its spectacular performance, the winner of the competition, Singspiration Chorale, Onitsha, Anambra state, went home with a cash prize of N5,000,000 while the second place prize of N3,500,000 went to Messiah Chorale Ile-Ife, Osun state and the defending champion, De Emeralds Choir Akure, Ondo state, came third with a cash prize of 2,500,000.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state commended the convener of the choir festival for his steadfastness and commitment to the project over the years.

Represented by his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, the governor praised the nine choir groups for their brilliant performances and urged them not to relent on their efforts.

He urged the people to find their passion in the service of God, just as the convener found his passion in worshipping God through music early in life and kept at it.

In his remarks, host of the Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival, Senator Gbenga Daniel, highlighted the significance of the festival and vowed to always host it in Sagamu even when it becomes an international event.

Senator Daniel thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for his presence at the festival and also lauded the participating choirs for making it a worthwhile event.
