- Stool a divine call to service, Aiyedatiwa says
Oba Adebayo Bashiru Takuro has been installed as the first Olusan of Ayesan, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state.
The development followed the approval of the state government, which recognised the Olusan of Ayesan kingship stool and its consequent placement on the status of a Grade C Oba.
Presenting the instrument of appointment and staff of office to the monarch in Ayesan on Saturday, the governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, charged Oba Takuro to deploy his powers in the service of the people of his community.
Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor said “Let me use this opportunity to remind Kabiyesi that your recognition and elevation is a divine call to deepen your service to your people.
“You must continue to exercise restraints and caution in the use of the traditional authority and powers. This instrument, which you are being presented today, should be deployed to strengthen the peace and cohesion of your domain and that of the state in general”
The governor used the occasion to highlight the laudable policies and programmes of his administration and key steps being taken in ensuring public safety.
He urged royal fathers in the state to “refrain from any form of expansionist hegemony by installing or appointing minor chiefs beyond their authorised jurisdictions, especially in disputed areas”
In his speech, Oba Adebayo Takuro appreciated the Aiyedatiwa administration for its benevolence that led to his accession to the throne.
He assured the government of his commitment to sustaining peace at the grassroots in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and engender programmes that promote the culture of the people of the community.
Remarking, commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, restated the commitment of the Aiyedatiwa-led government in bringing development to the grassroots, asking for the full cooperation of the people in maintaining law and order.
He said the government is positioned to accelerate development across the state, calling on the people to cast their votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo state.
The event was well-attended by dignitaries; including members of the State Executive Council, royal fathers, past and serving members of the state and national assemblies, chairmen of transition committee of local governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
