Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has charged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ, whom he described as the foundation of their faith.
The governor gave the counsel on Saturday at the patronal day of St Barnabas Anglican church, Mahintedo in the diocese of Ilaje.
Speaking to the congregation, the deputy governor of Ondo state, Olayide Adelami, who represented the governor at the occasion, said Christians must emulate Saint Barnabas by caring for the needy in the society.
According to him, “Saint Barnabas, whose feast we are celebrating, was a selfless follower of Christ who sold his land and gave the money to assist the church in Jerusalem.
“We must imbibe this selfless act of St Barnabas and cater for the lowly in our society. We must be Christ-like in our interactions with others, where we live, work and play”
In his remarks, Bishop of Ilaje Anglican communion, Rt Rev’d Isaac Adeyemi Adeniji, appreciated the governor for sending his deputy to grace the event, saying they both exhibit uncommon humility.
