ICT: ONDO TRAINS 500 YOUTHS ON ICT TO BE SELF RELIANT

In its effort to empower youths to be self reliant and globally competitive, the government of Ondo state has kick-started the training of 500 young people in different aspects of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

The participants, who were drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state, converged on SITA Hall Akure, Ondo state capital for the flag-off ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Ondo state Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatwa disclosed that the training is in collaboration with the Nigerian-German Centre for Migration and Development (GIZ-ZME), thanking them for their support.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, said his “administration is committed to technological advancement and industrialization, which is an integral part of ‘OUR EASE’ policy thrust his administration”

According to him, the state government has been partnering various government and private organizations to equip the young minds in the state with the needed skills to be self-reliant and contribute to the economy.

As he put it, “Today’s event underscores the unwavering commitment of our administration to the empowerment of our young people, who remain the backbone of our society and the drivers of sustainable economic development” the Governor said.

He therefore charged them to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire fresh knowledge that will transform their lives.

Welcoming the participants, the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo state governor on ICT, Hon. Tomide Akinribido revealed that, the training will last for 20 days

He thanked the governor for his youth-centric projects, policies and programmes as encapsulated in his ‘OUR EASE’ development agenda.

Contributing, Representative of GIZ, Ayomikun Olugbode, said the organisation has been engaging in a fruitful collaboration with the state government for over five years and ready to do more for the stay. He thanked the government for sustaining the relationship.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the agency, Dr. (Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola charged the participants to consider themselves lucky to have been chosen out of many. She thanked Mr Governor for the prompt release of funds for the program signifying the geniue love of this administration for the younger generation.
