Akeredolu will be back soon, says wife

The first lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has assured that her husband, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu will be back soon in Nigeria from his medical vacation abroad.

Mrs. Akeredolu disclosed this on Monday during her opening address at the 2023 BEMORE summer boot camp for 300 young girls in Ondo State.

The Ondo State first lady in her speech while announcing her husband’s imminent return quoted a line from American musician, R. Kelly’s song titled “the storm is over now”.

“We are already seeing the sunshine in Ondo and all will end in praise as the governor will be back soon,” Mrs. Akeredolu said.

She further said that the people of the state were very happy to welcome the new Bemore Girls to Ondo.

“It is another great time to formally welcome our new Bemore Girls into the big and beautiful Bemore family where talents are discovered and nurtured,” she added.

“This is where skills are instilled, where girls are intentionally exposed to life-changing experiences and where we bring out the best in them.

“In the last six years, I have treasured this moment and its bounty harvests it affords me the chance to yearly re-give myself to a new set of sterling Nigerian girls through this incredible platform.

“This, for me, is an exceptional opportunity to build these promising girls into confident, competent and worthy women who, in the fullness of time, will rewrite the narrative around womanhood.”

The Ondo State House of Assembly on June 13, 2023 confirmed the deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the new acting governor, stepping in for Akeredolu.

The Ondo Assembly stated this after receiving a letter from the Akeredolu, notifying it about his going on medical leave for 21 working days following his health condition.

Akeredolu on July 10, however, forwarded a letter of extension of his medical leave to the state house of assembly, the receipt of which was confirmed by the speaker, Olamide Oladiji.
