About 300 investors and 5000 participants are expected to grace the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, the world’s largest entrepreneurship- focused event slated for between November 22 and 24, 2024 in Ondo state.
Summy Smart Francis, the Project Lead and Special Adviser on Entrepreneurship to the State Governor, announced this at a Press Conference in Akure ahead of the festival.
According to the Special Adviser, Akure, the Ondo State capital, is gearing up to host the Global Entrepreneurship Festival, the world’s largest entrepreneurship-focused event.
Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday at Revenue House, Akure, the organisers highlighted the festival’s significance, with 12 key activities planned, including a conference featuring global speakers, networking sessions, and opportunities to connect with innovators and investors.
The Project Lead noted that the event marks a milestone as Governor Aiyedatiwa becomes the first Nigerian governor to host the festival. “This event will generate significant revenue for Ondo State and position it as a hub for entrepreneurship,” Francis said.
Promotions for the event have reached international platforms such as Times Square in New York, alongside prominent displays in Abuja and Lagos.
The festival is expected to attract over 10,000 participants, offering a platform for networking, innovation, and investment opportunities.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, described the event as transformative, praising Governor Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship and youth development.
“This is a proud moment for Ondo State under the exceptional leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa,” Akinlosotu stated.
Other speakers, including the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana, emphasised the festival’s potential to empower young people and promote gender equality.
The Director of Business Development at ONDIPA, Femi Akarakiri, commended the governor for keeping the festival free of political undertones and noted the state’s vast potential in manufacturing and innovation. He predicted that Ondo State could become Nigeria’s economic hub within the next two decades.
The Governor’s Special Adviser on Health, Professor Simidele Odimayo, assured attendees of comprehensive healthcare support during the event, with emergency response teams on standby.
