FOWOSO to Hold 2nd Summit in December
As part of activities marking its second anniversary, the Foundation for Wives of Ondo State Officials and Female Political Appointees will on 4th and 5th December, 2019, hold a 2-day Summit with the theme, “Prioritising Women’s Health and Well being in Nigeria”.
The Foundation, the brain-child of the Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu – Akeredolu, was launched on 7th December, 2017, with the core aim to drive women empowerment and self actualisation in Ondo state.
In a Press Release issued by the Special Assistant to Mrs. Akeredolu on Media, Miss Oluwatobi Fademi, the Summit which will hold at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), Igbatoro Road, Akure and the Arcade Ground, opposite the State’s Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development in Akure by 10: 00 a.m respectively.
According to her, the summit is expected to educate and expose women to the significance of taking their health serious as well as sensitizing them about measures that could be utilised to forestall occurrences inimical to the safety and wellness of their families.
“At the Summit, opinion leaders, women advocates, accomplished entrepreneurs and career driven male and female personalities will deliver keynote addresses and lectures on carefully selected topics and issues that bother on women empowerment and self actualization in Ondo State.
She noted that the summit is part of efforts to continually empower the women folk and strategically prepare them as active participants at the decision making table, particularly as the Akeredolu led administration is determined to further empower women in the State, implement gender balanced policies and other issues that could aid and distinguish development of Ondo women as an indispensable entity in the society.
She added that the summit will aprovide an opportunity for evaluating the efforts of FOWOSO at refining the potentials of Ondo State women in the past two years and driving women towards self actualisation need.
Meanwhile, the Founder of the Foundation and convener of the Summit, Arabinrin Akeredolu and other distinguished personalities will also encourage, motivate, and support women on the cogent needs required to adapt and make them more useful for the society, being healthier and of immense assistance to their families and the society, in general.
It will create empowerment and value reorientation, in the biggest form and participants at the Summit will go home with fresh ideas that will make lasting impact.
The event will feature the highly celebrated FOWOSO raffle draw with mouth watering prizes, PZ sponsored cooking and dancing competitions.
There will be a display of the breast cancer awareness dance, ‘SEKEM’ and Crawlers race competition as parts of the attractions outlined to engage participants, reveal and build their potentials and go home with fascinating packages.
“FOWOSO, within two years of its establishment, has impacted on the lives of thousands of women and youths across the State, through distribution of empowerment materials, skill acquisition, ICT training for youths.
“And this signifies a new dawn in the State and concerted efforts geared towards complementing the programmes and activities of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN at bringing governance nearer to the people and ensuring they have access to the dividends of democracy”, says Fademi
According to her, no fewer than 5000 participants are expected to attend the summit from across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
Personalities like the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, his Kwara State counterpart and his wife, Alhaji and Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Modupe Adelabu are also expected to grace the occasion.
Other expected guests are the Chief Executive Officer, Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema and the Olugbo of Ugbo land and his wife, Oba Frederick Akinruntan Obateru, top government functionaries, women advocates and other important personalities are expected to attend the Summit. Says the statement.
